Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Spetz website and services (the "Service"), operated by Spetz ("Spetz," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service in any way, whether browsing the site, joining a waitlist, creating an account, or using the concierge experience, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Spetz turns DIY videos into interactive, AI-guided projects, pairing DIY creators' content with tools that help viewers plan and complete home-improvement builds. This includes structured project briefs generated from creator videos, an AI concierge that answers project-specific questions grounded in that content, and features to help you shop for the materials and tools a project calls for. Spetz is under active development. Features described on the site, including anything related to monetization, customization, or commerce, may not yet be fully available, may change in scope, or may be added or removed as we build. We'll do our best to keep the site accurate, but it should be read as describing our direction, not a fixed, unchangeable feature set.
2. Accounts
Some parts of the Service, such as saving progress on a project or accessing certain features, require an account. You can create one using your email address or a supported third-party sign-in (such as Google). You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep it up to date. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it. If you believe your account has been compromised or used without your permission, contact us right away so we can help secure it.
3. Acceptable Use
To keep the Service safe and functional for everyone, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that violates these Terms or applicable law;
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, degrade, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its underlying systems, or any accounts other than your own;
- Scrape, crawl, reverse-engineer, or otherwise extract the Service's content, data, or underlying models in a way that goes beyond normal, intended use of the Service;
- Upload or transmit anything that is unlawful, infringing, or that you don't have the right to share;
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person, creator, brand, or entity.
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of these Terms and to take appropriate action, up to and including suspending or terminating access to the Service.
4. Content and Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, software, structured project data, and original written or generated content, is owned by Spetz or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that ownership to you; you're granted only a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. Content sourced from third-party creators, including videos, thumbnails, and any associated metadata, remains the property of those creators or their respective rights holders. Spetz builds structured, interactive experiences (such as project briefs and the AI concierge) on top of that content, but does not claim ownership of the underlying creator content itself, and our use of it is intended to support, not replace, the creator's own channel and audience.
5. Build Guidance Disclaimer
Spetz provides AI-generated guidance, instructions, and answers related to home-improvement projects, grounded in the original creator's content. This guidance is provided for informational purposes only, is not independently verified by a licensed professional, and is not a substitute for professional advice, whether that's a contractor, electrician, structural engineer, or other qualified expert. Home-improvement projects can involve real risks, including electrical, structural, and tool-related hazards. You are solely responsible for exercising your own judgment, verifying instructions before acting on them, following manufacturer instructions for any tools or materials, and observing all applicable safety practices, permits, and local building codes when undertaking any project. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spetz is not responsible for injury, property damage, code violations, or other loss arising from your use of any guidance provided through the Service.
6. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to, embed, or integrate with third-party websites, retailers, payment processors, or services, for example, to help you purchase materials for a project. These third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. Spetz does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, policies, availability, or practices of any third party, and any transaction you enter into with a third party is solely between you and that third party.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any AI-generated output will be accurate or complete. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spetz and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice, particularly in cases of suspected misuse, violation of these Terms, or risk to the Service or other users. You may also stop using the Service, and request that we delete your account, at any time by contacting us. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will continue to apply after your access ends.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time as the Service evolves, or as our legal entity and business structure are finalized. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms, so we'd encourage you to check back periodically.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are intended as a general, good-faith description of how the Service works and what's expected of you as a user, and will be governed by the laws applicable in Spetz's jurisdiction of operation. We'll update this section with more specifics as soon as they're available.
