Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Spetz ("Spetz," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate, so it's actually useful to read. If anything here is unclear, reach out using the contact details at the end.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you interact with the Service:
- Information you provide directly — such as your name and email address when you join a waitlist, request our research paper, express interest in partnering with us, sign up for an account, or otherwise contact us. If you're a creator, this may also include your social media handle or platform, when you share it with us.
- Account information — if you create an account, we store your email address, name, and sign-in method (email magic link or Google), along with basic account metadata like when your account was created and when you last signed in.
- Usage information — general analytics about how visitors use our site, such as which pages you view, the actions you take, the page you came from, and general device or browser information like device type and operating system. This is collected in aggregate to help us understand how the site is used, not to build a profile of any specific individual beyond what's needed for the purposes described here.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including diagnosing and fixing problems as they come up;
- Respond to inquiries and communicate with you, including about products, research findings, or partnership opportunities you've expressed interest in;
- Understand, in aggregate, how our site is used, so we can make informed decisions about what to build next;
- Maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Service, including detecting and preventing abuse.
We do not use the information we collect to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
3. Analytics Tools
We use third-party analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and PostHog, to help us understand aggregate usage of our site, such as which pages are visited and how visitors move through the funnel from first visit to sign-up. These tools may set cookies or use similar technologies to distinguish one visitor from another and are subject to their own respective privacy policies, which we'd encourage you to review if you'd like more detail on how each of them individually handles data.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers, email delivery services, and the analytics providers named above, each of whom is only permitted to use the information to provide services to us. We may also disclose information if we believe it's reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of Spetz or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we'd expect any successor to remain bound by commitments substantially similar to this policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, for example, for as long as your account remains active, or for as long as we might reasonably follow up on a waitlist or partnership inquiry, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
6. Your Choices
You can ask us to access, update, or delete the information we hold about you by contacting us at the email below, and we'll do our best to respond promptly. You can also manage cookie preferences directly through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how parts of the Service function. If you no longer want to receive communications from us, you can let us know and we'll honor that request going forward.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we become aware that we've inadvertently collected information from a child, we'll take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Service, and the tools and practices behind it, evolve. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, we'll take additional steps to bring the change to your attention.
